About Me - Kate Jenkinson, CJ Designs
If you have spent hours looking for the dress you want either for yourself, or your bridesmaids it may be worth considering having the dress(es) made for you.
I am a dressmaker who has found over the years people cannot find what they want from the shops. The service I provide is a personal service where I try to produce what you want for your wedding day
I think people assume going to a dressmaker is going to be outrageously expensive. This need not be the case as it depends so much on the fabric you choose and the style of dress.
To give an example of the kind of personal service I provide: a couple of years ago a bride came to me with a plate from the hotel where the reception was to be held. The plate had a coloured border to it and she said “this is the colour I want my adult bridesmaid’s dress to be” – so I found the fabric for her and it was an exact match.
The first meeting is for consultation – a discussion about the style, fabric etc. There is no charge for this meeting and I can usually give a clear breakdown of my charges and possible fabric costs.
NOTE
The cost of making dresses depends largely on the style and choice of fabric. Typical bridal fabrics can vary from £15 per metre to over £200 per metre. The quotes given will usually separate the making up and fitting cost from the fabric cost.
